The movie that almost never was is finally ready to make it's big screen debut after seeing the death of three different artist in the making. After the late E. Lynn Harris penned the script for Sparkle, Aaliyah was scheduled to come in and sign on for the lead character Sparkle Williams on the Tuesday after that horrible Saturday when she tragically died in a plane crash. Nobody would touch the project for ten years, but super producer Debra Martin Chase and her friend of 20+ years Whitney Houston were resilient and determined to make Sparkle come to life. Whitney Houston would return to the screen in her comeback role which will undoubtedly leave fans reminiscent of her glory days and in her role in a movie that 'sparked' her career to new levels in The Bodyguard 20 years ago. Jordin Sparks would play the title role that ten years ago was set to go to Aaliyah and a cast of talented young men including Derek Luke , Omari Hardwick and Mike Epps who gives one of his most dram! atic roles of his career. Now in the remake of Sparkle, Whitney would bring a new character to life, not the Effie that we remember from the original but this time Whitney Houston would put a little bit of herself into the character as she creates the role of Emma. Sadly as we all know, Whitney would not make it to see this movie open on the big screen but she did see it to completion.
